Dryer Repair

Friday, 3. September 2010

My wife’s dryer stopped working yesterday. I took it apart to do some troubleshooting.

I’m surprised more homes don’t burn down because of dryer lint. The inside of the dryer held a lot of lint, a few socks, and several dollars in change. I recommend that everyone take a little time and at least clean out their dryer ducts.

I determined the motor had failed.

I cleaned out all the lint and installed a new motor.

This picture shows the drum back in place and the drive belt installed on the new motor.

Here is the dryer, back in service and ready for action. Whenever the machines break, my wife hopes she will finally get to buy new ones. I always manage to get them going again. She’s lucky we didn’t start our marriage with a wringer washer.

Apparently the dryer does eat socks. My husband is going to keep that washer and dryer running forever. He’s probably going to keep that damn swamp cooler going ’til we’re dead too. Good thing he is so handy at things that I want him to be good at like the fireplace project. Maybe with any luck I can convince him that new hardwood floors would make a good blog post.
