Fire Starter
I went to Lowes and bought some 1 x 6 pine boards. Is this a stack of lumber, or a bag of potato chips? I had to pick through the entire stack to get half a dozen that were even close to straight. I ran them through my jointer to get a straight edge on one side. The jointer shavings are an excellent fire starter.
I stuffed a wad of shavings into the bottom of my charcoal chimney. A short time later, steaks and vegetable kebabs were on the grill.
not sure i would use pine. might leave an off taste. but then. what heck !
The pine shavings burned very fast. I don’t think they would affect the flavor; no worse than newspaper, and certainly not anything like lighter fluid.
To heck with the pine fire starter stuff, I’m coming to your house for dinner !
