Gator Paint and Rust Remover
I went to the Home Depot to buy a Norton Rapid Strip Disc. Something has changed; the Home Depot only stocks Diablo brand abrasives. There wasn’t an equivalent product in the Diablo brand. I went to Lowe’s and found they only stock Gator brand abrasives. I picked up a Gator brand paint and rust removing disc.
I mounted the disc on my 4 1/2″ grinder and skimmed the top of my portable welding table. I also knocked the mill scale off a short piece of bar stock and angle iron. The product worked, but was about half consumed.
I guess I have to buy Norton products online.

You might also want to try Camel Grinding Wheels EZ Strip. I used the Red T27 disk and completely removed the mill scale from all sides of 42′ of 1 1/4″ angle iron, and about a square foot of 1/4″ plate. Pretty much used it up, though.
I like using the abrasive flap discs. They seem to last a very long time and they come in different grits. When they start to load up, I just mash the grinder into a piece of scrap metal to expose some fresh abrasive. CGW or the German brand, Klingspor seem pretty good, if I recall.
